Mrs. Pilar Sandoval

Mrs. Sandoval has been a science teacher for gifted students for 8 years, and has led prior school based efforts including Technology Cohort Leader, Project Lead for awarded Hewlett Packard Teaching Initiative Grant, Science Fair Chairperson, as well as county-wide school coordinator for the Youth Fair. As a technology cohort, Mrs. Sandoval had the opportunity to design technology integration projects using a variety of applications that have directly impacted student learning. She created webquests for students and collaborative websites to involve parents in their child’s learning experience, as well as guiding students through learning through electronic sharing and researching.
 
Mrs. Diana Millares

Mrs. Millares has been teaching for more than 8 years, has a Masters Degree in Educational Technology and Media Specialist. She was grade chair person for the Gifted Department during the 2005/2006 school year and served as a liaison between the district’s Science Leadership Initiative for Science Educators and Sunset Elementary.  Through her Masters Degree in Educational Technology, Mrs. Millares had the opportunity to acquire academic and practical in-depth technology knowledge and apply it to the learning experience. She designed technology integration projects across several curriculum areas, using a variety of software applications.
 
Ms. Berna Hoytink

Ms. Hoytink has been teaching gifted students at Sunset Elementary for 5 years. She graduated Cum Laude from Barry University receiving a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. Ms. Hoytink is an active participant and Co-Chairperson for Sunset Elementary’s school wide Science Fair. She is involved in organizing school wide activities for ESE (Exceptional Student Education) week.  Ms. Hoytink has effectively applied technology to the learning experience in her classroom.
 
Ms. Michelle Puig

Ms. Puig leads the school technology plan and technology training.  She developed technology integration initiatives to enhance the teaching of core curriculum subjects in her class, collaborating closely with teachers.  She especially focused on the implementation of VTS (Visual Thinking Strategies), which uses a sequenced curriculum of art images delivered through technology from many world cultures and different eras to teach thinking, communication skills, and visual literacy.  She teaches Office, Paint, MovieMaker, Publisher, Diagram Studios, Explorer, and search engines to first through fifth graders, integrating math, science, social studies, language arts, and reading.
 
Mrs. Sharon Colon

Mrs. Colon is an Exceptional Student Education Teacher at Sunset, full-time certified teacher in elementary education with a Learning Disabilities certification.  Mrs. Colon has received school training and is fluent Microsoft Windows XP, electronic grading, Riverdeep, Kid Inspiration, Publisher, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, among other applications. She has integrated software use applying it to enhance the learning experience of the learning disabled.
